Privacy Policy

AgentRank (“we”, “the app”) helps Shopify merchants improve how their stores appear in AI search engines. This policy explains what data we access, how we use it, who we share it with, and how we protect it.

Who this policy is for

This policy is for Shopify merchants who install AgentRank. AgentRank is a merchant-facing tool. We do not collect or store personal data about your customers (shoppers).

What data we access

When you install AgentRank, you grant access to the following Shopify data:

• Products (read & write) — titles, descriptions, SEO fields, variants, prices, and barcodes. We read them to audit your store and write improved descriptions, SEO titles, and meta descriptions when you choose to apply a fix.
• Content (read & write) — pages and blog content, used for AI-readiness checks.
• Themes (read & write) — to provide the optional AgentRank AI Schema theme extension that adds product structured data (JSON-LD).
• Shop & account details — your store domain, email, and plan, used for authentication, billing, and support.

Data we store

We store your store domain and access token (encrypted), your audit results, the product fields we analyze, AI prompt-test results, token usage for cost tracking, and your subscription plan. We retain this data while the app is installed.

Third-party AI services

To audit content, generate improvements, and test your AI visibility, we send relevant product and store content (not customer personal data) to the following providers, each under their own terms and privacy policies:

• Anthropic (Claude) — generating descriptions, SEO, and prompts
• OpenAI — running visibility prompt tests
• Perplexity — running visibility prompt tests
• Shopify Universal Commerce Protocol catalog — checking whether your products appear in AI shopping results

We send only the content needed for these features. We do not send your customers’ personal information to AI providers.

Customer (shopper) data

AgentRank does not request, collect, or store personal data about your store’s customers. We respond to Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact,shop/redact). Because we hold no shopper personal data, data-request and customer-redact webhooks have nothing to return or erase; a shop-redact request permanently deletes all data associated with your store.

Data deletion

When you uninstall AgentRank, your access token is removed immediately. All store data is permanently deleted when Shopify sends the shop/redact request (approximately 48 hours after uninstall), or sooner on request to the email below.

Data security

Access tokens are encrypted at rest. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Our infrastructure runs on Railway with managed PostgreSQL and Redis.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your store’s data at any time by emailing us. We comply with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
